Privacy policy
How enquiry information is handled.
This site is built to generate project enquiries, so the privacy information here is focused on the small amount of personal data needed to receive and reply to them.
Who this policy applies to
This policy explains how CH Digital handles personal data collected through this website and through direct project enquiries. It is written for people who contact CH Digital about a potential website, ecommerce or web application project.
CH Digital is an independent web development business based in Derby, United Kingdom, and acts as the data controller for the personal data collected through this website.
What information is collected
If you use the contact form, I may collect your name, email address, phone number, business name, project type, budget information and the message you choose to send.
If you contact CH Digital by email, phone or WhatsApp, I will receive whatever contact details and project information you include in that conversation.
If you allow analytics cookies, Google Analytics also receives limited website usage information such as page views, approximate device and browser information, and selected on-site interaction data relating to contact routes and enquiry actions.
Vercel Web Analytics measures anonymous, aggregated website usage without cookies. This can include the page viewed, referrer, approximate country, browser, operating system and device type, but it is not used to identify individual visitors or follow them across different websites.
Like most websites, the hosting and infrastructure used to deliver this site may also process limited technical data such as IP address, browser details and server request information for security, delivery and reliability.
Why the information is used
Personal data is used to respond to enquiries, assess whether a project is a suitable fit, prepare quotations or follow-up information when requested, and keep a basic record of project-related conversations.
If analytics cookies are accepted, usage data is also used to understand which pages, calls to action and contact routes are leading to relevant enquiries.
Anonymous Vercel Web Analytics data is used to understand general traffic, popular pages and how visitors arrive at the website.
The information is not used to run a mailing list, sell personal data or send unrelated marketing.
Lawful bases
Where you contact CH Digital about a possible project, the main lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
For optional analytics cookies and related measurement, the lawful basis is consent.
CH Digital also relies on legitimate interests where needed to run the business responsibly, understand anonymous aggregate website usage through Vercel Web Analytics, manage enquiry records, prevent spam or abuse, and keep the website and contact process secure.
Who information is shared with
Enquiries sent through the website are transmitted through the website hosting environment and delivered by the email service used for the contact form. At the time of writing, that includes Resend for email delivery.
Vercel provides the website hosting and cookie-free Web Analytics service used for anonymous aggregate measurement.
If you consent to analytics cookies, website usage information is also shared with Google Analytics.
If you choose to contact CH Digital through WhatsApp, your message will be handled through WhatsApp and its parent company services under their own terms and privacy arrangements.
Personal data is not sold or shared for advertising purposes.
International transfers
Some service providers used to run the website or deliver enquiries may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, CH Digital relies on the transfer mechanisms those providers make available under UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses where applicable.
How long information is kept
Enquiry details are usually kept for up to 12 months after the last meaningful contact, unless a longer period is needed for an active discussion, a live project, record-keeping, legal obligations or the handling of a dispute.
If an enquiry becomes a client project, relevant information may be kept for longer as part of normal project, support and accounting records.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for access to your personal data, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, ask for data to be erased, object to certain processing, or ask for processing to be restricted.
To make a data protection request, email charlie@ch-digital.co.uk. If you believe your information has been handled improperly, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
This page will be updated if the way CH Digital collects or uses personal data changes. The latest version published on this website applies from the date shown above.
